Duddilla Sridhar Babu is a son of former Speaker of AP Assembly, D. Sripada Rao. Sridhar Babu entered into active politics after the death of his father in 1999. He is representing Manthani Assembly constituency of Karimnagar district from the Congress Party and elected thrice as an MLA from the Assembly segment. Sridhar Babu was Graduated in Law from prestigious Delhi University and also practiced at AP High Court before entering into politics. Duddilla Sridhar Babu entered politics in 1999 after the untimely demise of his father Duddilla Sripada Rao. Late Sri Sripada Rao was a three time MLA from Manthani in Karimnagar distrcit and served as the speaker of the AP Legislative Assembly from 1989-1994. He was a close aide of the ex prime minister Late Sri PV Narasimha Rao. Sridhar Babu won successive electoral victories in the 1999,2004 and 2009 elections. He won as MLA in the last 2009 general elections from Manthani constituency, Karimnagar district, in a tough contest. He is the only senior Congress MLA to get re elected from the Karimnagar district amidst a strong TRS wave, in 2009. Supporters of Sridhar Babu claim that he successfully steered the congress party to victory in the 2004 elections in the Karimnagar district as the District Congress Committee president (DCC). He was a government whip of the congress party from 2004-2009. He was again made the DCC president in 2009 just before the crucial general elections as he enjoyed a non controversial image. Sridhar Babu made his debut in the cabinet of Late YS Rajashekara Reddy as minister for Higher Education and NRI affairs, in 2009. After serving the ministry for 1.5 years he moved to the Civil Supplies and Legislative affairs portfolios in Kiran Kumar Reddy's cabinet. Sridhar Babu is believed to wield a clean image and an honest reputation of being a leader who is ever helpful to the masses, in the district of Karimnagar.
